Gap between duct and wall is bridged with styrofoam strips and FSK tape. Gap between duct and corrugated ceiling cellulose is stuffed with rock wool. Duct extends into an adjacent room.
Tue 1-31-2017. Jordan 1071. Day 2. First 3 photos show the work. Labor (2-man crew) is sent to do the job. But description doesn't match complexity of work. So Labor complains to Inspector. At break a department meeting is called about Labor complaining about University Hall last week and the futility of cleaning it. Instead of scraping and taping, now fiber board for the large gaps and rock wool instead of scraping. The meeting is discussed below.

Department Meeting. ...What would Undercover Boss say?... Why did it take a meeting to resolve the differences between Labor (2-member crew) and Management (1 supervisor)? The meetings involve the asbestos department (3 people) and the next level Manager. Manager needs a meeting with Labor without Supervisor to figure out the problem. Among the reasons I started this work blog was to push against Management when they dismiss the legitimate concerns of Labor and the stigma of asbestos. (As Undercover Boss) I see how Management has restricted Labor's access to work orders, dashboard, and inputting time. Before the changes two and a half years ago, if the old supervisor was sick or on vacation, phone calls went to Labor who would inform the Inspector and use the work order to get supplies and charge time. Then you could put that on your resume to show management aptitude and real world experience. I see a member of Labor doing the work of Management in this work journal. How is this employee being recruited or promoted according to University policy for employee development? Why must Labor fight with Management to do a good job? So Management threatens to eliminate the asbestos department and nobody is guaranteed to still have a job? There should be an avenue where Labor is appreciated for putting their lives in danger on a daily basis but not trapped in the job forever. Many thanks go to this work blogger for showing the world (and management) what an Asbestos Worker has to deal with. Most definitive archive documentation of University Hall last week in 4-day cleanup. Also the 20-point plan to modernize asbestos department, not implemented since I didn't get the job as supervisor. And here's my Resume.
